Cherish Bike Rack

Cherish is a street furniture solution that combines a Class C bike rack, public seating, and a traffic control bollard. With a strong focus on sustainability, innovation, and multifunctionality, it is designed for use at light rail stations, along high streets, and within public squares across Sydney's CBD. Cherish maximises the efficient use of limited public space while contributing to a more accessible and pedestrian-friendly streetscape. Its durable materials ensure it can withstand the demands of high-use urban environments while complementing the surrounding public realm.
The main body is made from Replas' Polyrock concrete and uses a recycled plastic aggregate consisting of 95% post-consumer soft plastic waste and 5% engineered recycled content. Its shape allows people to sit and rest comfortably while discouraging prolonged loitering, making it well suited to high-traffic areas. The bike lock attachment point is made from 316 stainless steel tubing, precisely bent to match the seat’s intricate form while providing the strength, durability, and functionality required for secure bicycle locking.
Concealed lighting beneath each Cherish module illuminates the surrounding footpath at night, improving visibility and assisting with navigation and wayfinding. In addition to enhancing the user experience, the lighting contributes to a safer public environment. Each concrete seat is anchored by an internal steel core that also functions as a discreet bollard, providing an additional layer of pedestrian protection without compromising the clean, sculptural aesthetic. This makes the design particularly well suited to busy, high-pedestrian environments.
